FAQ
Do I need to be a performer to join?
No. UMI is for musicians and music lovers. Lots of members come for the shows, the socials and the people.
I've never performed before. Is that okay?
That's exactly who UMI is for. Our events welcome every genre and skill level, and open mics are a low-pressure place to try your first set.
Can students from other schools join?
Yes. Non-UBC memberships are $15, or $12 if you're returning.
How do I sign up to perform at an event?
Each event page links to a performer sign-up form when spots are open. Members get free entry when they perform at our events.
